Are you ready for one of Hollywood’s biggest nights of the year? Well unless you’re off suppose you don’t have to be ready, as you just marvel at all the pretty people who have more money than you while you sit with a tub of ice cream. Anyway, you can cheer on the Aussies that have been nominated!  Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman are all up for nominations this year, who do you think will take home some gold?
Hugh Jackman – Best Actor - Les Miserables

If there was an award for the sexiest you know he’d get it, however Hugh is nominated for his part in the incredible musical theatre movie Les Miserables. Hugh played Jean Valjean who was released from a 19-year sentence in a French prison for stealing bread, seriously a loaf of bread? Harsh. Set in the France in the 19th century Hugh got to wear Aristocrat costumes in which he looks rather dashing in, even when he was scruffy in prison he still pulls it off.  Good luck Hugh!
Naomi Watts – Best Actress – The Impossible
the-impossible-image09
The Impossible tells the tale of a real life survival story of a family stuck in one of the most catastrophic natural disasters the world has seen in the 2004 tsunami that hit Southeast Asia, killing  227,898 people. Naomi plays  Maria, a British doctor and mother of three in her most emotional role to date. It’s a gripping and inspiring movie that gives you a true prospective of what it must have been like on that horrific day. Also staring Ewan Mcgregor, this showcases one of Naomi’s most bare-all roles.
Nicole Kidman – The Best Supporting Actress – The Paperboy

Australia’s most famous and successful actresses Nicole Kidman becomes like you’ve never seen her before, seducing young Zac Efron (well who wouldn’t)  by weeing on him, probably not the way i’d do it but if you’re Nicole Kidman you’d probably get away with it. See Kidman as a saucy hot pot  that wears hooped earrings and sexy dresses, a far cry from her innocent roles.  The film is based on the novel by Pete Dexter, and sees Matthew McConaughey and Efron as a pair of brothers who as reporters go to investigate a murder in an attempt to exonnerate a man on death row (Cusack).

Other hot favorites…

Quentin Tarantino –  Django Unchained

Nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, along with Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz in the best Supporting Actor safe to say this will pick up something. With Tarantino you’re always guaranteed  a lot of action and Django Unchained has it in abundance! The plot sees a slave-turned-bounty hunter who sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. Cowboys fights, blood baths, Leonardo Dicaprio and Jamie Foxx, what more do you want? Samual.L.Jackon? Alright he’s in it too.
Life of Pi – Best Picture
lifeofpi
Life of Pi (e), is not about pie unfortunately but a young man called Pi Petal who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor a fearsome Bengal tiger. Critics are already hailing it as the best movie of the year, and so they should.
Lincoln – Steven Spielberg
Lincoln
Spielberg, now there’s a man who can make a movie! He’s back with this amazing adaptation of Abraham Lincoln’s life as the 16th President of the United States. The movie shows the hardship of the American Civil War where President Lincoln is faced with many hard decisions within the cabinet to emancipate the slaves. This is nominated for Best Picture Drama, Screenplay, Best Director, along with best Actor roles for Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham who captures him perfectly.
