Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You!

When Margaret Thatcher was elected as the first female Prime Minister of Britain, her party took out an ad in the London Evening News to congratulate her. The date was May 4th, 1979. The ad read: "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations." The phrase obviously taken from the pop movie hit of the time, Star Wars, was a reference to the Jedi greeting: "May the Force Be With You." The idea stuck, and ever since May the 4th has been known... no, not as the day Maggie became Prime Minister (well, in some circles, maybe)... but as Star Wars Day!

So what does Star Wars Day entail, you ask? Well, that depends on how big a Star Wars fan you are. But some variations of dressing up in Star Wars costumes, having lightsaber fights with your mates, and watching your favourite Star Wars movies are things to do. And don't forget to think about Maggie.
